MEMBERSHIP
The NJ Division of the International Association for Identification is part of the world's oldest, largest, most highly recognized and respected professional organization of its type.
Active Membership in the New Jersey Division of the IAI is available, by application, to law enforcement professionals who are actively engaged in forensic identification, investigation, and/or scientific examination of physical evidence and to their Department or Bureau Heads.
Associate Membership is available to persons who have an interest in the forensic sciences but are not employees of law enforcement agencies.
Student Membership is available to those persons enrolled in an accredited educational institution, who are studying a curriculum with an academic focus on the forensic sciences or criminal justice.
Purpose and Mission
The New Jersey Division of the International Association for Identification (NJIAI) was chartered in 1986. The charter encompasses all 21 Counties in New Jersey. Our 2006 membership exceeds 250
active members. The division operates as a not for profit professional organization formed for the following reasons:
To associate people in the professions of forensic identification, investigation, and scientific examination of physical evidence so that the professions may be standardized and effectively
and scientifically practiced.To encourage maximum use and advancement of the science of forensic identification and
crime detection.To encourage research in scientific crime detection.
To keep its members apprised of the latest techniques and discoveries in forensic identification and crime detection.
To employ the collective wisdom of the profession in order to advance the scientific techniques of forensic identification and crime detection.

Paul F. Scully Service Award At the 1998 Educational Conference in Cape May, it was decided to establish an award in honor of the division's long time Secretary/Treasurer, Paul Scully. Paul had passed away the previous July after a long and painful illness. The award would be given to the division member who exemplified the spirit of dedication and service that was Paul Scully. This award is bestowed annually by the Board of Directors based on the recommendation of the Executive Board Officers. |
